This Thursday night, hundreds of music-lovers will gather at the Wellesley Middle School auditorium to see a host of performers in this year’s Jazzuary concert. The groups performing include The Rice Street Singers, Acappella Anonymous, Inchordination, Ladies First, and Renegade Acappella, plus a guest performance from Ithaca Premium Blend.
Julia Rufo ’12 will be performing as an intensive in the Rice Street Singers and is one of the directors of Renegade Acappella. “(Rice Street) meets in school, so we have class time to prepare for the concert. All of the acappella groups (excluding Premium Blend) are student run,” said Rufo.
Students have spent countless hours both in and outside of school honing their skills to prepare for the concert. “Acappella groups meet at peoples’ houses on weekends/weeknights to rehearse together,” said Rufo.
The show will include about thirty Wellesley High singers. There is expected to be a large crowd of parents, friends, and music-lovers alike. The music will start at 7:00pm, and the Performing Arts department suggests that no one miss out on this to-be dazzling winter show that can perhaps make up for the disappointing snow situation so far.
